ORF Salzburg reported yesterday that Upper Austria wanted to combat shopping tourism by its residents in other federal states with police controls. It won’t be quite that martial. In response to a question in a press conference on Thursday, LH deputy Christine Haberlander (VP), who is responsible for health agendas in Upper Austria, actually announced strict controls on those four days on which the shops are already open elsewhere.
“Only sporadic samples”
It will be – if only for capacity reasons – at best very isolated samples, it was said yesterday both in the country house and in the police. From a purely legal point of view, shopping in the neighboring federal states that goes beyond groceries and everyday goods is not allowed during the lockdown that is in place in Upper Austria. Control is difficult, however.
