For the 13th time, the Wels City Theater was transformed into a large ballroom on Saturday. Welser Marketing & Touristik GmbH once again acted as organizer with seven service and charity clubs.

It was a test for the Wels city ball. Can this also exist in less good economic times? The audience gave the answer: Despite the difficult conditions, the around 1,200 festival guests were in top form as usual. “This ball makes our city a little more lively,” emphasized Mayor Andreas Rabl in his opening speech. Beforehand, he made a promise from Markus Achleitner, the State Economics Councilor who was present: “The curfew is lifted today,” said Rabl with a broad grin. Dancing was allowed until five in the morning.

Lively promenade

The ball guests strolled and celebrated from the large ballroom to the charity bars in the Greif office building to the Welser Wirtschaft tent, where the dance band “Bigtime” heated up the elegantly dressed audience.

The opening show was organized in the tried and tested manner by the Wels Hippmann dance school. The evening began with the soprano Ksenia Valentina from Volgograd. The attractive singer enchanted the audience with classical hits such as “Quando m’en vo'” by G. Puccini and Franz Lehar’s “My lips, they kiss so hot”. The politician’s son and conductor Matthias Achleitner sat at the piano.

After the danced opening in the style of the Vienna Opera Ball with numerous debutante couples to CM Ziehrer’s fan polonaise, the Ballet Academy and the professional dancers from Hippmann put on an impressive opening show. The Hans Peter Gratz & Friends orchestra played in the ballroom. Daniel Ecklbauer & Friends played music in the foyer, who were replaced late at night by DJ Mexx Ventura.

Acrobatic midnight show

At midnight, the organizers surprised the festival guests with an acrobatic gymnastics show. The successful spectacle of the Matura classes at the Wallerergymnasium was, like all other performances, met with much applause.
