Marco Grüll becomes a legionnaire in the German Bundesliga: He was already linked to Mainz and Union Berlin during the winter transfer period, but the offers weren’t good enough for his club Rapid. According to German media reports, the 25-year-old will now move to Bremen on a free transfer after his contract expires in the summer.

On Sunday, Grüll was on the ball for Rapid in the Cup quarter-finals against St. Pölten (3:1). It was the first game of his farewell tour. In the summer of 2021, Rapid brought the winger from SV Ried.

Need for action after Gale’s injury

Grüll should soon get to know a new playmate in the spring at Rapid: According to Spanish media reports, winger Isak Jansson is due to complete a medical check in Vienna. The 22-year-old Swede will be on loan from Spanish second division club Cartagena until the summer.

“We want to do something else,” said Rapids sports director Markus Katzer at the Cup quarter-finals, without referring to Jansson. The need for action increased because Thierry Gale was out for months: the 21-year-old Barbados team player had only had surgery on his toe in January, and now he tore a cruciate ligament in his left knee, “in private,” as Rapid announced.
