World’s first drone with laser weapons tested in Turkey

The world’s first unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) with a Turkish-made Eren laser weapon made successful shots from distances of 500, 300 and 100 m. This was reported on Friday, December 10, by the Anadolu agency.

The Turkish Interior Ministry said that the drone is capable of neutralizing explosive devices without involving sappers. The altitude of the drone’s flight was 3 thousand meters. After passing all the test phases, the UAV will be handed over to the Turkish Armed Forces, the ministry concluded.

Earlier, on December 4, it became known that Ukraine has acquired at least 10 Bayraktar combat drones from Turkey since 2019, along with control stations and missiles. It was noted that Kiev ordered several dozen more military drones, which are currently under development.

On December 6, it became known that the construction of a plant for the production of modern military drones had begun in Ukraine.

At the same time, on November 13, Russian President Vladimir Putin drew attention to the fact that the West does not react in any way to the use of unmanned aerial vehicles by Ukraine in Donbass. He noted that officials in Ukraine say directly that they have used UAVs and will continue to use them.

Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov said on October 27 that Turkey’s supply of drones to the Ukrainian military could lead to destabilization of the situation on the contact line. He noted that as soon as weapons are in the hands of the military, they potentially begin to be used in the area.
