The Vienna Opera Ball, which takes place on February 8th, stands for opulence, exclusivity and high prices – not just with tickets starting at 385 euros and boxes starting at 14,000 euros. A look at the current food and drink menus shows: Prices have risen, visitors have to dig deeper into their pockets than last year, when, among other things, the solidarity surcharge of ten percent resulted in significant price increases.

A small beer costs 14.50 euros. Last year you paid 13.50 euros for it. A glass of wine starts at 16 euros, a glass of sparkling wine costs 21 euros (2023: 19 euros). A glass of champagne starts at 39 euros.
If you want to stick with water, you have to pay at least 9.90 euros for the 0.33 liter bottle of mineral water, Cola is available from 12.50 euros. The famous Opera Ball sausages – also known as Sacherwürstel – cost 16 euros, and the goulash soup also costs 16 euros.
Priscilla lands in Vienna today
Despite the high prices, the ball has been fully booked for months and the celebrity guests are already arriving. Priscilla Presley, star guest of master builder Richard Lugner, will land in Vienna today. All Lugner knew about Presley’s plans was that she wanted to visit the Mozarthaus. “I don’t know anything else,” said the builder. It is now clear what clothes Elvis Presley’s ex-wife will wear at the Opera Ball: a gold dress by Nina Ricci and shoes by Balenciaga. The German entrepreneur Markus Deussl, in whose box the most celebrities will probably be found, is also coming to Vienna today and will welcome singer Heino and entertainer Oliver Pocher here.
