As the Ministry of Justice confirmed to ZiB2, Pilnacek’s laptop was handed over to the Economic and Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (WKStA). An investigation is being carried out on suspicion of abuse of office against unknown perpetrators; according to the ministry, these are “responsible people from within the ÖVP circle”.

Pilnacek spoke in a bar last summer, among other things, about the fact that National Council President Wolfgang Sobotka (ÖVP) is said to have accused him of never turning off investigations. The recording ended up in the media. However, no initial suspicion against Sobotka has solidified, as the “Tiroler Tageszeitung” reported at the end of January.
