The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine did not allow the singer from Russia and the organizer of her performances to enter the country because of their visit to Crimea, the press service of the department said on the Facebook page on Saturday, December 11.
“During the registration and the necessary control measures, the border guards found that foreigners violated the procedure for entering the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea (Kiev considers the peninsula its temporarily occupied territory and does not recognize the results of the referendum on reunification with the Russian Federation. – Ed.), Incl. attending festivals held on the peninsula in different years, ”noted the Ukrainian border guards.
According to them, the performer and the organizer of the concerts were planning to get to the event in Ukraine. The state border service did not name the names of the Russians.
The Russians flew to Kiev on a flight from Istanbul. For violating the norms of Ukrainian law, they were denied permission to cross the border and banned from entering for three years.
In October, the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy, together with the Ukrainian Security Service, expanded the black list of persons who are prohibited from entering the country. 13 cultural figures from Russia were added to it, now there are 228 people on the list.
For the first time, the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine published a blacklist of cultural figures in August 2015. According to Kiev, the persons included in the list “pose a threat to national security.”
Among the first artists whose performances are prohibited in Ukraine were Oleg Gazmanov, Sergey Penkin, Alexander Rosenbaum and Yulia Chicherina. Since then, this list has been expanding from time to time.
On August 12, Russian singer Philip Kirkorov was banned from entering Ukraine.
