The opening at the northernmost Arctic Circle was colorful, with pop music, dance performances, boats, light effects and fireworks.
Bodø’s mayor Odd Emil Ingebrigtsen compared the traditional singing of the Sami with Hubert von Goisern’s performance in Bad Ischl. The Salzkammergut was also remembered in Tartu: in a video, children rolled a ball onto the stage, which rolled first to Norway and then to Bad Ischl. From the town parish church we went to Kreuzplatz, into the spa park, over the rainbow zebra crossing, past the drinking hall and post office, over the Traun and the ball finally reached a destroyed building in Ukraine.
