With a win against Seekirchen, the team secured the necessary points to qualify for the “Final 3” of the best indoor teams of the season for the first time. “The joy of participating in the final is enormous. We have finished bitterly fourth in the championship so many times in recent years. Now we are right in the middle of the fight for the championship title,” says defender Antonia Woitsch.
Whether a second Mühlviertler women’s team will compete in the final tournament alongside the Freistadt team will be decided next weekend. This is where the Union Raiffeisen Dialog Telekom Arnreit meets Nußbach and – of all places – Freistadt. At least one win is probably necessary to qualify. “We want to get to the Final 3 and will give everything to achieve this goal! It’s pure excitement until the end, that motivates us even more,” says captain Tanja Gahleitner.
The Freistadt men’s team, however, is a regular guest in the final tournament. With victories against Enns (3:1) and Laa an der Thaya (3:0), captain Jean Andrioli and his team secured their ticket to the final tournament in the penultimate round of the basic round, which takes place at the end of the semester break on the 23rd and 24th. February will be held in Enns.
