The Undersecretary of Tourism, Remo Monzeglio, confirmed efforts to advance a flight between Uruguay and Italy, via private airline ITA, that already operates towards Argentina and Brazil, within the framework of the government’s plan to strengthen the air connectivity.

The objective of Ministry of Tourism is to continue adding frequencies and specify an air route between Montevideo and the European country. That’s why, Monzeglio took advantage of his stay at the BIT 2024 Fair, in Milan, to move forward in that sense and, in dialogue with Radio Carve, he expressed: “A flight towards Italy It would be very important for Uruguay”.


The leader confirmed that he shared activities with the Minister of Tourism of Italy, Daniela Santanchè, while he held a meeting with senior executives of the private airline ITA, which was formed after the bankruptcy declaration of Alitalia. “They kept the best airplanes and now they are trying to expand,” he highlighted.
“They are already traveling to Brazil and Argentina directly and nothing better than Uruguay to be able to expand,” said Monzeglio, who in any case clarified that it is “an ant job”, which he considered very necessary after an increase of more than 140% in visitors who arrived from Europe, according to data from Mintur.
After a positive year, the government seeks to advance in air connectivity
