The bodybuilder, action star and politician Arnold Schwarzenegger (76), who was born in Styria, knows what he is talking about – the “Styrian oak” was long one of the top bodybuilders in the world. He won the title of “Mister Olympia” seven times and the title of “Mister Universe” five times. He was “Mister World” and “Mister Europe”.

He later embarked on an acting career and gained international attention with “Conan the Barbarian” in 1082. At the latest after his characteristically Austrian “I’ll be back” in the Terminator films, he was no longer only known to audiences in the sports world. He became a globally celebrated action star.
Embodied “American Dream”
But that wasn’t enough for him either: he pursued a political career in the USA. He was governor of California from 2003 to 2011. Schwarzenegger currently lives in Los Angeles, in the Brentwood district – living what is often referred to in America as the “American Dream”.

“Weight high and no failure”
In the current newsletter, the Mister Olympia champion writes about two “underrated” rules that the 76-year-old uses in his own workouts and that he would like to share with his followers:
- “As the reps decrease, the weight goes up”
- “I want the last two reps to be hard, but I don’t want failure”
Basically, there’s nothing like trying it out. “Some people want me to choose the weights for you based on 60 years in the gym. That’s a bad idea. I could be overestimating or underestimating you,” Schwarzenegger writes in the newsletter.

In his usual heroic style, he also encourages athletes to keep going and not give up: “If you choose a weight that’s too light and have to do 8 extra reps until the reps get hard, don’t think you’ve failed. If you choose a weight that’s too heavy If you choose and have to stop before you get to your reps, don’t think you’ve made a mistake. You’ve learned.”
