Shock in the ski team: Torn cruciate ligament in the ÖSV star

Slalom vice world champion Adrian Pertl suffered a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament and a meniscus injury in his right knee in the giant slalom in Val d’Isere on Saturday, as the diagnosis on Sunday revealed. He will be operated on in Hochrum near Innsbruck on Sunday, Innsbruck / Val d’Isere. The 25-year-old from Carinthia got stuck with his skis on a gate pole in the lower part of the Face de Bellevarde and fell. A serious knee injury was feared relatively quickly in the ÖSV. Pertl traveled back to Austria, where an MRI scan was performed on Sunday morning.

The end of the season for Roland Leitinger had already come at the beginning of November. The Salzburg giant slalom specialist and runner-up in the season opener race in Sölden tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee when he fell during parallel training on the Reiteralm.

Overall European Cup winner Maximilian Lahnsteiner is also out for the entire season. During the giant slalom training in Schnalstal, the Upper Austrian tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in a training fall.

In comparison, a threader from slalom ball winner Marco Schwarz got off the ground on November 3rd on the Resterhöhe near Mittersill. Six weeks after he suffered a rupture of the syndesmosis ligament in his left ankle, the Carinthian returned to racing on Sunday, but missed qualifying for the second round of the World Cup slalom in Val d’Isere. The backlog in training should be largely made up for by the hot slalom phase in January.
