Sales of 0km vehicles increased 4.2% year-on-year

The Automotive Trade Association of Uruguay (Acau) published its 0km vehicle sales report during the month of January of this year and determined an interannual increase of 4.2% compared to the same month of the previous year; In addition, an increase was noted in the purchase of utilitarian and a low acquisition of passenger cars.

With a total of 4,166 units sold in the market, some 171 more than in the same month last year, representing an increase of 4.2% in sales in the sector.

The category that sold the most was utilitarian, with a total of 1,627 compared to 796 sold last year, surpassing a sales increase of more than 100%.

Meanwhile, the category that suffered the most losses were those of automobiles with a total of 1,374 sales during the month of January compared to the 1,960 placed last year. The trucks They also suffered a significant drop, with a total of 190 units sold compared to 253 placed in 2023.

In turn, the SUV were maintained, selling 957 units compared to the 967 sold during the month of January 2023. The other category that managed to maintain were the minibuses with 18 units sold in total, while last year saw 17 for the same period.

For its part, in the category of bus None were sold compared to the 2 that were sold in the same period last year.

0km sales grew by 9.9% in 2023

The sale of vehicles 0 kilometer had a great performance during 2023 in Uruguay, driven by a cheap dollar and the increase of purchasing power which allowed a 9.9% year-on-year growth in the sector’s marketing.

Despite not having achieved the record, the sale of 0km vehicles was very good last year: 60,487 new units were sold, according to official data from the ACAU.

With a growth of 9.9% year-on-year, the 2023 result was just 570 units below 2013, which still holds the annual sales record for the sector. Likewise, last year seven 0km per hour vehicles were purchased.

The vehicles utilitarian were the favorites, particularly the sport utility vehicles (SUV), whose sales figures doubled compared to six years ago. The category of automobiles, On the other hand, it had a small decline in the year-on-year comparison.
