It was no longer an accessory to murder, and both were legally acquitted of this. The focus was on the question of whether they were part of a terrorist organization. Both were found guilty at first instance, but the verdict was overturned due to formal errors. “In principle everything remains as it was”, summarized the judge. In the end, the punishment was 18 months, six of which were unconditional, for the 24-year-old, and 21 months, of which seven were unconditional, for the one year younger.

The fact that they received slightly less at the regional court than in the first legal case a good year ago – at that time they had each received 24 months partially – takes into account the fact that the process had to be reopened in parts, said the judge. The two men each accepted the verdict, but the public prosecutor did not make a formal statement for the time being. The decisions are therefore not legally binding. Both have already served the unconditional part of the sentence in custody.
