WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange suffered a minor stroke in London’s Belmarsh prison, where he has been held since 2019. On December 11, the Daily Mail writes about this with reference to his fiancée Stella Morris.
According to her, the ischemic attack happened on October 27 during Assange’s speech in the High Court of London from prison via video link.
The woman noted that the stroke was caused to a greater extent by the stress that arose as a result of the ongoing litigation.
As the bride of Assange noted, the incident affected the condition of the founder of WikiLeaks. The man has a drooping right eyelid, memory problems and signs of neurological damage. Julian underwent an MRI of the brain and is now taking medication for stroke.
“Julian is struggling and I’m afraid this microstroke could be a harbinger of a more serious attack. This exacerbates our concerns about his ability to survive due to the length of this litigation, ”said Morris.
On December 10, the Court of Appeals for England and Wales overturned the ban on Assange’s extradition to the United States. The case will be returned to the trial court, which previously ruled that the man could not be extradited to the States due to the risk of his suicide. The court decision also states that Assange should remain in custody.
Assange’s fiancée Stella Morris said that the court’s decision will be challenged as soon as possible.
On the same day, Rebecca Vincent, director of International Campaigns for Reporters Without Borders, said that the extradition of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange was “perhaps a matter of life and death.”
The WikiLeaks founder is currently in UK custody. In 2019, Washington indicted him on 18 counts, including violating espionage laws and conspiring to hack into a government computer. A journalist in the United States faces 175 years in prison.
