Last year, the Vöcklabruck registry office association, to which the Pilsbach community also belongs, had to deal with yes-men every week. 52 couples promised each other eternal loyalty and love there – and hopefully they have kept to it so far. The registrars were mostly happy, but at the same time they had their hands full. Because the spouses came from 20 different countries.
This means more work in advising and checking the documents. The oldest groom was 70 years old, the youngest bride was only 19 years old. The largest age difference between the spouses was 25 years.

Marie and Maximilian
Vöcklabruck welcomed 1,087 new municipal residents in 2023, 549 boys and 538 girls saw the light of day. There was little new when it came to favorite names.
The girls’ ranking is led by Marie, followed by Miriam and Emma. Nora, Sophia, Luisa, Ella and Anna were also found to be beautiful. The name Maximilian prevailed among the boys, and Lukas, Felix and Jakob also had many additional namesakes last year. Of the 1,087 newborns, 851 were born as Austrian citizens.

357 citizens had to say goodbye in 2023. The average age of the women who died was 79.16 years, while the men lived to an average of 76.12 years. The oldest woman died at 101, the oldest man was 102.
Who is missing their climate ticket?
The city police also took stock of the year 2023 and noticed a particular curiosity: “It is striking that climate tickets are repeatedly handed out, which obviously no one misses,” says police chief Gerald Klement.
A big topic was the change in parking fees at the beginning of February. As reported, half an hour of free parking is now only available after a minimum deposit of 50 cents. But Klement takes a stand for dog owners: “The people are well-behaved, most of them follow the law,” he says. There has also been a significant improvement in speeding.
“Our conclusion is: people are driving more slowly,” says the police chief. Personally, Klement sees the reversal of the one-way path in the hinterland as a positive development. “In my opinion, this has proven itself,” says the head of the city police.
