The accident occurred on Wednesday evening around 6 p.m. A 71-year-old woman from Linz was crossing Ferdinand-Markl-Straße with the help of a walker. There is a divider in the middle of the road – according to the police, the pensioner hit this with the front tire of the walker and was therefore unable to move any further.

Despite immediately initiating emergency braking, the approaching tram was unable to prevent a collision with the woman; the train hit the 71-year-old. She hit the windshield head-on and came to rest on the road.
After emergency medical treatment, she was taken to Kepler University Hospital with serious injuries.
