The Bruckner University is celebrating its 20th anniversary as a university this year and is planning a series of concerts on the Urfahraner Grünmarkt to mark the occasion. “This performance also offers our students a great opportunity to present themselves outside of the usual concert and stage setting,” says Rector Martin Rummel. The city of Linz expects this to provide new impetus for the weak market.

As reported, the specially built glasshouse operated by Bio Austria had to close in June 2022. Since then, the city has been looking for a new concept for the area. It is now clear that the Glaushaus will be removed from the market regulations and will be used purely for gastronomic purposes in the future. The traditional weekly market (Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.) remains unchanged. Likewise, aThe idea was to make the area more attractive with shading and greening measures.

The Bruckner University concerts take place in May and June and are the start of the cultural development of the area. Further events are to follow. “The planned mix of gastronomy, market and culture will bring a breath of fresh air to the Grünmarkt area,” says Linz real estate officer, City Councilor Dietmar Prammer (SP). City Councilor for Culture Doris Lang-Mayerhofer (VP) sees the concert series as another homage to Anton Bruckner , whose 200th birthday is being celebrated extensively this year.

At the same time, the municipal tender for a tenant for the future gastronomic use of the approximately 200 square meter restaurant in the Green Market building is also starting.
