Ventopay, which provides its customers with cashless checkout, payment and billing systems, has secured a strategic minority stake in the Delegate Group, a leading Viennese company in the field of food service and merchandise management systems. Specifically, Ventopay has taken over 23 percent of Ultimate Shields, which in turn holds a 60 percent stake in Delegate. Ventopay boss Johannes Reichenberger does not want to comment on the amount of investment.

Delegate provides software products and services to customers such as company canteens, catering companies, hospitals and restaurant chains. Among other things, menu plans are created, production, orders and invoices are managed and inventory levels are monitored. There has been collaboration for 15 years, says Reichenberger.
The companies now want to further develop their digital platform together. The aim is to meet the challenges of community catering, such as cost pressure, staff shortages and high demands on flexibility. There are already cash register systems that do not require any employees, says Reichenberger. Artificial intelligence uses a camera to recognize the selected dish and payment is made contactless. Automated invoicing or the creation of menu plans is also possible. Companies and their employees also have concrete data available, such as how many calories the meals contain and how high the CO2 consumption is.
Plans for internationalization
Ventopay, based in Hagenberg im Mühlkreis, was founded in 2012 and has almost 60 employees and locations in Vienna, Essen, Augsburg, Hamburg and Zurich. More than 100 million transactions take place via the Ventopay systems every year. The approximately 500 customers (mainly in the DACH region) include company restaurants, caterers, universities and schools, stadiums, hospitals as well as care facilities and vending machine operators. Eight million euros were generated in the past financial year.
Internationalization is also planned with the investment, says Reichenberger. He names the Benelux countries, the USA and Australia as destinations. The Delegate Group, founded in 1990, is represented on three continents.
