There was a large search for the journalist in the Braunau region on Thursday. Almost 100 emergency services and a dozen boats were deployed. The search for the missing person continued on Friday night.
Förderl-Schmidt recently came under a lot of pressure because of allegations of plagiarism. The paper is currently having her journalistic work at the “Süddeutsche Zeitung” investigated; the deputy editor-in-chief had withdrawn until the allegations had been clarified. In addition, the “plagiarism hunter” Stefan Weber had made allegations of plagiarism in Föderl-Schmidt’s doctoral thesis in a report commissioned by an online portal. She then commissioned the University of Salzburg to examine the work. There is no result available yet.
