The injured party sought advice from the 32-year-old. He transferred large sums of money to him eight times in order to buy Bitcoins. Due to mysterious transfers, the businessman filed a complaint in July 2023, and investigators from the Urfahr-Umwelt district police command and the Hellmonsödt police station have now been able to convict the suspected fraudster. He does not admit that when the Linz resident searched for an apartment, suspicious files with child pornographic content were discovered.

According to the police, the 32-year-old from Linz enjoyed the businessman’s full trust, especially since he also worked as an IT specialist in his company and was therefore familiar with the office space. This is exactly where the Bitcoin wallet was kept. The man from Linz apparently had access to this hard drive-like storage medium, which is also known as a cryptocurrency wallet. When inexplicable transfers kept occurring between February and July last year, the businessman became skeptical and filed a complaint.

Investigations revealed that the entire amount in this “wallet” had been withdrawn in several transactions. The man from Linz probably sold the Bitcoins, transferred the funds to his account and exchanged the Bitcoin wallet in the office for another model. After extensive investigations, it was proven that the 32-year-old had stolen all of the Bitcoins. He probably used the stolen money to finance his luxurious lifestyle.
