State Health Councilor Martina Rüscher (ÖVP) pointed out the easy transmissibility of the disease and its potential danger and urgently recommended vaccination. “Vaccination is the safest preventive measure, it provides reliable protection and is free”Rüscher appealed to those citizens who have not experienced the disease.

More than 100 cases of measles have been reported across Austria since the beginning of the year. According to the AGES (Agency for Health and Food Security), 55 of them had been confirmed by early Friday morning. Vienna is particularly affected, with 24 and Tyrol with 23 confirmed cases.
