Canadian Liam Wallace fell on the approach runway, suffering internal bleeding and numerous broken ribs. The doctor heard about the emergency over the radio, rushed to the scene of the accident and punctured the 24-year-old’s lung. He was taken to hospital in Sofia and his condition was described as stable on Saturday.

According to the doctor, the healing process will be a long one. In Wallace’s case, all ribs on the left side from the second to the tenth were broken twice. It is still unclear whether an operation is necessary. Wallace has competed in 27 World Cup races so far, but the technical specialist has never qualified for a second round.
