When can Pope Francis arrive in Uruguay?

Although it was expected that the eventual visit of Pope Francisco to the region occurred between March and April, the date was moved to the second semester, probably after August, after it was decided that the canonization of Blessed María Antonia de Paz y Figueroa, an Argentine nun known as Mama Antula, takes place this Sunday in Rome.

According to reports, the leader of the Holy See would travel in the second semester on a tour of Oceania, which would include Papua New Guinea, Indonesia, East Timor and would even add to Singapore either Solomon Islands.

If I continued the itinerary, I would then travel to Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina, thus making the first visit of a Pope to the country since May 1988, when he was John Paul II.

The meeting with Javier Milei can be decisive

In this context, the president Milei will be greeted this Sunday with Francisco during the canonization of Mama Antula, while on Monday the private hearing will be held, the first between the two.

There, the Pope could give the Argentine president a clue about the steps to follow for 2024. Milei, with whom he had clashed during the presidential campaign, was enthusiastic about “a very fruitful dialogue, just like when we spoke on the phone,” making it clear that the differences were in the past.
