They won 101 of 264 seats, the electoral commission announced on Sunday. Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s PML-N won 75 seats. This makes it the largest party in the new parliament. Khan’s party (PTI) was excluded from the election and its candidates ran as independents.

Khan’s PTI (Pakistani Movement for Justice) is considered nationalist-centrist, the PML-N (Muslim League-Nawaz) belongs to the conservative camp. The centre-left Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) won 54 seats. Smaller parties won 34 seats. Two seats can only be allocated at a later date.
