With an undefeated preparation, SV Guntamatic Ried kicks off the spring season in the 2nd football league on Friday. At the double dress rehearsal, the Innviertel team drew 0-0 against the German regional league team Wacker Burghausen and shortly afterwards defeated the Upper Austria third division team SPG Wels 4-0 with the current regular team.
One thing is obvious: the Rieder team will be a force to be reckoned with in the second half of the season despite a current eight-point gap to second division leaders GAK: “We want to build momentum in the first part of the second half of the season up to the GAK game, after that you can look further,” says Ried coach Max Senft, whose team has already gone nine games unbeaten in the league since their most recent meeting with their Styrian promotion rivals. “The team came together very well after the difficult start.” With Ante Bajic and Lumor Agbenyenu, the quality of the Senft team increased in the winter: “Both are clear reinforcements.”
