Young people between the ages of 13 and 15 should only be able to use social media with parental permission. In France, adolescents are already legally only allowed to set up an account on social networks from the age of 15. They need their parents’ consent beforehand.

Attal was confident that he would be able to take action on the issue. “This is a very difficult but not impossible construction site.” But in collaboration with platforms there is a way to achieve the goal. Facebook or Tiktok are aware that their reputation is at stake. “You’ll play along,” said Attal.
