Five holes were drilled into the trunk and an unknown poison was injected, the police said on Monday. As a result, the tree died and had to be felled. Whether the surrounding area was also damaged remains to be investigated. The 53-year-old owner of the forest reported the case on Friday.
The holes are believed to have been drilled over the past month. The police are now investigating property damage. The financial damage is estimated at around 3,000 euros.
