Mayor Andreas Rabl and security officer Gerhard Kroiß (both FP) thanked Patrick Hauser, who rescued a drowning man from the Traun at the end of December, with a certificate. Hauser was with a cycling group on the banks of the Traun River that day when he noticed a lifeless body floating on the water. Using a stand-up board that he happened to find nearby and a dog leash, the trained mountain rescuer managed to pull the man to the bank. There the rescued person was handed over to rescue and taken to the hospital. Hauser had previously been active as a lifesaver. After an avalanche on Manaslu in Nepal, he helped rescue three seriously injured Sherpas.
