The accident occurred around 6 a.m. on Sipbachzellerstrasse. A car coming from Sipbachzell veered off the left side of the road for an as yet unknown reason – after driving across the oncoming lane, the car “flew over” a deep ditch, hit an oak tree about 40 cm thick and then crashed into one about 30 meters away Forest area to stand on.

The driver of the car was apparently lucky – and escaped with minor injuries. He stated that he lost control of the vehicle due to microsleep.

Elaborate salvage work
In order to recover the vehicle, several bushes had to be removed. The site was extensively illuminated for the work. With the help of the winch of the firefighting vehicle from Irndorf, the accident car was recovered and made ready for the towing service at a road entrance.
The fire brigade closed the road for the duration of the rescue work and set up a diversion.
