On the second match day of the fourth MEVZA tournament in Slovakia, VCA Amstetten lost to the home team Rieker UJS Komarno 1:3 (21:25, 25:27, 26:24, 20:25). The Mostviertlers were at eye level with the former Slovakian champions for long stretches.
“Compared to the first game against Myjava, the team was much more prepared. We were two sets ahead, unfortunately we didn’t seal the deal in the second set, but we held our nerve in the third set when Komarno made a great comeback,” says assistant coach Amer Zecevic. The team he coached had a hard time dealing with the powerful service from the Slovaks: “It’s their home arena and of course they’re well-adjusted there. We were good in our assumptions, but in the end we were just a little bit missing from something more to get out.”
