The shot in front of the bow, which Union Schwingenschuh Nussbach had received in the previous week with the surprising 1: 3 defeat against Wolkersdorf / Neusiedl, had an effect: In the third round of the Women’s Fistball League, the Kremstaler women immediately found their way back to their old strength. With two successes against the Mühlviertel teams from Arnreit and Freistadt, captain Marlene Hieslmair and Co moved back to second place with the leader of the table and defending champion Seekirchen.
In the first game of the third round, coach Marco Salzberger’s squad showed their great ability. The young five from Arnreit, sensationally in second place in front of the Kremstaler women, were not up to the force of the Nussbach attacks from the start. At 3-0 (11: 5, 11: 7, 11: 3) the runner-up convinced with 20 attack and two service points. In the following game against feared opponents Freistadt, Nussbach even scored six service points at 3-0 (5, 6, 10), but the third set went into overtime. “We didn’t allow Freistadt to play his flawless, powerful game against us,” says defender Katharina Lackinger.
For the Nussbacher fistball players, the last first half of the season will continue before Christmas. On Sunday in Kremsmünster, the final revision against Master Seekirchen is on the program, and the Kremstaler women will also meet Urfahr. With two victories, the winter crown would be conquered.
