Today – like yesterday’s Thursday – will also have unusual temperatures for the time of year: with maximum daily temperatures of up to 16 degrees, winter feels more like a spring day.

With regard to the upcoming semester break week, Josef Haslhofer, meteorologist at Geosphere Austria, predicts warm but changeable weather.

Tomorrow, Saturday, will be mostly cloudy, with occasional showers possible during the day. Intermittent sunshine can be expected in the Mühlviertel. The temperatures remain relatively warm at 8 to 12 degrees.

Sunday starts with residual clouds and early fog, and a lot of sun can be expected throughout the day during the day.

The new week then begins with change. Monday brings rain and it stays mostly cloudy. Due to the rising westerly wind, the temperatures (6 to 10 degrees) feel significantly cooler.

Tuesday will also be rainy, while more sunny periods can be expected in the middle of the week. Not much can be said at the moment about how the holiday week will continue, says Haslhofer. “At the moment it looks like clouds will dominate, but it will remain warm.”

In total, according to experts from the Austrian Environmental Center, the first half of February in Austria was almost 7 degrees warmer than the long-term average from 1991 to 2020 and therefore record warm. “If temperatures continue like this in February, it will be the warmest February on record”says Haslhofer.
