With his time of 51.42 seconds, the Tyrolean once again fell short of the Olympic standard that he had previously achieved. Heiko Gigler, on the other hand, was eliminated from the 50 m freestyle in the preliminary heat, as he was in the 100 m. With a time of 22.28, the Carinthian took 29th place.

Bucher managed to successfully overcome his frustration after failing to make it to the semi-finals at the start of the 50 m Delfin World Cup. “Being first in the preliminary round is extremely cool,” he said afterwards. “Now the 50 on Sunday has been forgotten again. I think I can push back a little in the semi-finals. Then it should be a cool event in the afternoon.”

Gigler was not dissatisfied with his time. His focus is now on the medley relay competition (4 x 100 m) on Sunday at the end of the title fights in Qatar.
