Large-scale operation on the B134: children injured in a bus accident

At an intersection between Eferding and Steinholz, around 7:30 a.m., a truck and a public service bus, which was traveling from Prambachkirchen in the direction of Fraham, collided. The 57-year-old bus driver may have misjudged the distance of the cross traffic coming from the left when she wanted to turn left. She pulled into the intersection just before the truck. The 44-year-old truck driver tried to evade but could no longer prevent a collision.

Due to the force of the impact, both vehicles left Wallerner Strasse and landed in a water ditch around three meters deep. The truck driver, the bus driver and four passengers, including students according to initial information, were injured.

Rescue and fire brigade were on a large scale. The bus driver and two passengers aged 14 and 64 had to be freed from the badly damaged bus by rescue workers from the Fraham, Eferding and Steinholz fire brigades using rescue shears. The truck handlebars also had to be cut out of the driver’s cab. He suffered minor injuries and was taken to nearby hospitals along with the seriously injured driver and the seriously injured teenager and three other students.

Five rescue vehicles and two ambulance vehicles as well as 30 fire brigade workers were on site. The B134 had to be closed at the level of the accident site, there were significant obstructions in the early morning traffic. In the morning the rescue operation, which according to the helpers turned out to be difficult, continued.
