He United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) is “about 18 months” to identify a vaccine for the current strain of the bird flu and is developing a process to distribute it, the Secretary of Agriculture, Tom Vilsack.

More than 81 million poultry and water birds Americans died because of the bird flu in 47 states from January 2022, according to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
“We are probably 18 months or so away from being able to identify a vaccine that is effective for this particular disease (bird flu) that we are dealing with now,” he said Vilsack at a hearing in Congress.

He USDA plans to debate the poultry vaccination with its trading partners, amid concerns that other countries could restrict imports of vaccinated birdsaccording to Vilsack.

Bird flu detected in penguins near Antarctica
He Scientific Committee for Antarctic Research (SCAR) reported that a Deadly type of bird flu in gentoo penguinswhich increases the fear that the virus can spread to Antarctic colonies.
The researchers found some 35 penguins dead in the Falkland Islands on January 19. Samples taken from two of the dead penguins tested positive for the virus. H5N1 bird flu virusaccording to Ralph Vanstreelsveterinarian who works with SCAR.
The deaths confirm that the gentoo penguins are susceptible to contract this highly lethal disease which decimated bird populations around the world in recent months. However, Gentoos rarely travel between FalklandsFront of argentine coastand the Antarctic Peninsulalocated about 1,300 kilometers south. This means that traveling penguins are unlikely to drive the spread towards the southern continent, he stated Vanstreelsresearcher affiliated with the University of California-Davis.
“The role that could be played by gentoo penguins is to serve local reservoirs of infectionthat is, maintain a reservation of susceptible guests never leave the islands“he concluded.
