13-year-old shot by his uncle in Wörgl

The police confirmed a corresponding report in the “Tiroler Tageszeitung” (online edition). The youth’s uncle is said to have been handling a handgun from which a shot was fired unintentionally, the police said. The boy was hit in the upper arm and chest area, but was responsive.

The boy was flown to the Innsbruck clinic. Further investigations were underway, police said. In addition to the rescue helicopter, an ambulance, an emergency ambulance and two police patrols were in action.

A similar incident occurred a few days ago in Pasching (Linz-Land district): an attempt to catch an alleged burglar ended in an emergency call for a 25-year-old and her stepfather on Monday. The young woman from Thalgau was seriously injured by a shot fired from her stepfather’s rifle. She had to be taken to the Kepler University Hospital in Linz by emergency helicopter.
