As he and his son were cutting out trees with broken snow, one broke in the middle and threw the 69-year-old into the adjacent stream bed, the Lower Austria State Police Department reported on Saturday.
The seriously injured man was taken by rescue helicopter to the Wiener Neustadt State Hospital, where he died.
According to the broadcast, the accident occurred at 3 p.m. The son gave the 69-year-old first aid and informed the emergency services, who called the rescue helicopter due to the serious injury.
