Last Saturday, at a press conference, the union leader commented that “there was a neighborhood in the Maracaná neighborhood and in Las Torres (Montevideo)” in which “over 850 signatures were collected” in about two hours. “People immediately show their willingness to turn social security into a fundamental human right, which is what we want,” Abdala said.
Asked about the total number of signatures achieved so far, the president of the PIT-CNT reported that they do not have precise data, since “so many (signatures) arrive that we regularly do a count, but the number changes every day.”
Fenapés went out to collect signatures in the Rutas de América cycling race
On the other hand, the Federation of Secondary Teachers (Fenapés) carried out a campaign to collect signatures for the plebiscite throughout the classic Rutas de América cycling race.
