Since last week, the city of Steyr has had a five-time Styrian national swimming champion. Due to his studies, Franz Pühringer has been swimming for AT Graz for a few months now and no longer for the Askö Swimming Club Steyr.
He won big on his first appearance at the Open Styrian Indoor Championships in Auster Graz. With five gold, four silver and one bronze medals, the luggage on the return journey to his hometown was particularly heavy.
But the 19-year-old is happy to accept these hardships. Whenever his studies allow, Pühringer returns to his regular swimming club in Steyr to train the little dolphins between the ages of six and nine. They will now try even harder to emulate their coach and become successful swimmers.
