The head of Naftogaz, Yuriy Vitrenko, on Monday, December 13, on the air of the ICTV channel, said that there is enough gas in the underground storages of Ukraine for the heating season.
“Now we have a normal volume of gas in our storage facilities. There should be no problem getting through the winter. We must calmly go through the winter so that all consumers in Ukraine have enough gas, ”he said.
At the same time, Vitrenko noted that a difficult situation with coal has developed in the country, but Naftogaz, in principle, can insure power generating enterprises.
Earlier, on December 1, Gazprom announced that at the moment Europe has already withdrawn more than 18% of the gas reserves pumped into underground storage facilities last summer, while the reserves in the Ukrainian underground storage facilities are already approaching the start of injection. The company noted that Ukrainian gas reserves fell 38.7% less than last year, that is, by 10.3 billion cubic meters. m.
On November 2, the country’s former foreign minister, Pavel Klimkin, announced that the coming winter will be extremely difficult for Ukraine. He noted that at current energy prices, the country will not be able to survive another heating season.
On October 20, the National Federation of Employers of Ukraine issued a statement in which it reported on the catastrophic situation in the country’s energy markets. The organization noted that in 2021 the cost of energy resources rose sharply, as a result of which the price of gas for Ukrainian enterprises turned out to be four to five times higher than that of competitors.
