Markus Redl, managing director of ecoplus Alpin GmbH, referred to Annaberg, Lackenhof am Ötscher and Mönichkirchen on Monday. Depending on the weather in the coming days – rain or snow – these partial operations may also have to be stopped.

“Highest flexibility required”

On the Hochkar, “all the slopes are in good condition,” said Redl. It’s full time. Even on the rainy Sunday, almost 3,400 guests were welcomed. In other ski areas, however, “maximum flexibility is required”. “Especially in Annaberg, Lackenhof am Ötscher and Mönichkirchen, the snow cover has already been greatly reduced.”

They wanted to “react flexibly in the interests of the guests” and had “prepared a variety of plans depending on the weather,” said Redl. It is therefore “possible that we offer winter and summer offers in parallel at the weekend”. Due to the constantly changing situation, guests were asked to obtain information online.

Only children’s area is still open at Ötscher

From Tuesday, only the large conveyor belt in the children’s ski area will be in operation at the Ötscher lifts in Lackenhof. At the Annaberg lifts and the Erlebnisalm Mönichkirchen, the severely limited range of lifts and slopes will be continued at reduced prices for the time being. At the Wexl Arena in St. Corona am Wechsel, entry to the motor skills park is included with every ski ticket. Depending on the weather, the Annaberg lifts are planning to put the Almboden drag lift and the zipline into operation in the coming weeks, and even the mountain cart track at the Erlebnisalm Mönichkirchen.

“The season tickets for the Ötscher lifts are always valid for the Hochkar,” recalled Redl. As of Monday, eight ski areas with five cable cars and three drag lifts were in operation in Lower Austria. 29 of 37 lifts and around 48 of 94 kilometers of slopes were open. The Rax cable car is also available for snowshoe hiking.
