A routine check proved fatal for a traffic offender in the Ried im Innkreis district: The 39-year-old Ukrainian was stopped by highway police officers and asked for his documents. He presented a fake Ukrainian driver’s license. As it turned out, his real driver’s license had already been confiscated from him by the police in Ansfelden in June of the previous year because he had been driving drunk.
Since the man had not yet met the official requirements, his driver’s license is still considered revoked. The forgery was confiscated and the 39-year-old was reported to the public prosecutor’s office and district administrative authority, the police said on Monday evening.
