The Libyan citizen was taken to a hospital after receiving emergency medical care, police spokesman Raimund Schwaigerlehner said on Tuesday upon request. The suspect is a 22-year-old Moroccan. After a short escape, he was arrested in the Traiskirchen city area.
The attack was carried out on Monday shortly before 7:30 p.m. The Moroccan is said to have attacked the 24-year-old several times with a knife as a result of a verbal argument.
The Lower Austria State Criminal Police Office, Life and Health Division, took over the surveys. According to Schwaigerlehner, the investigation is on suspicion of attempted murder. Interviews were scheduled for Tuesday.
FPÖ: “Asylum chaos”
“Such incidents are an expression of the ongoing asylum chaos for which the federal government and especially ÖVP Interior Minister (Gerhard, note) Karner are responsible,” reacted Lower Austria’s deputy and FPÖ state party leader Udo Landbauer. In a broadcast he called for an immediate stop to asylum: “We don’t need any ‘cultural enrichment’ from knife specialists.”
