The man from Feldthurns had been missing since Sunday and was discovered on Monday near Brixen with bite marks and severely hypothermic in a meadow. A short time later he died in hospital from his serious injuries. DNA traces are now being evaluated. According to the online portal “stol.it”, investigators assumed that a dog, wolf or jackal could be responsible.

However, the carabinieri ruled out a violent crime. It is also possible that one of the family’s guard dogs could have attacked the 73-year-old. The results of the DNA analysis were expected on Wednesday.
