The 30-year-old new father Sabrina Pachner is one of these. Since 2019, she has been caring for people who can no longer cope with their everyday lives on their own. Under the motto “It’s in you!” The Red Cross is looking for employees in this branch nationwide.
“It’s the humanity that makes it. I enjoy my job and am happy about the trust that clients and relatives place in me,” says Pachner. Showering, personal hygiene, changing bandages, treating wounds and other nursing activities are part of everyday working life.
The number of people in need of care in Upper Austria will rise from the current 80,000 to almost 126,000 by 2040. This increases the need for personnel. “We need to further strengthen the appreciation for the nursing professions and offer an optimal working environment,” says Alexander Weintoegl, head of mobile care in the Steyr-Land district.
