A court in the US state of Utah imposed four consecutive prison sentences of one to 15 years on former momfluencer Ruby Franke on Tuesday (local time), as ABC and other media reported.

It was said that the authority responsible for pardons in Utah will decide how much time Franke will actually spend in prison. A former business partner was reportedly sentenced to the same sentence. Both women confessed last December to having inflicted serious physical injuries on Franke’s children between May and August 2023 or allowing another adult to inflict them on them.
Twelve-year-old ran to the neighbor
According to ABC, the two women were arrested on August 30, 2023 after Franke’s 12-year-old son, who lived in the business partner’s house, climbed out of the window, ran to a neighbor and told him that he had been abused. He is said to have been physically tortured and forced to work outdoors without shoes in the summer heat and to stand in the blazing sun for several days. He also didn’t get any water or food for days. One of Franke’s daughters was also found malnourished, NBC reported.
Before the verdict was announced on Tuesday, Franke tearfully read a statement that suggested she suffered from mental health problems and felt threatened by authorities and church leaders. “Over the past four years, I have chosen to follow advice and guidance that led me into a dark delusion,” it said. She feels guilty and takes full responsibility.

According to NBC, Franke, her husband Kevin and their six children became famous on YouTube, where they had 2.3 million subscribers to their now-defunct channel “8 Passengers.” The Frankes’ strict parenting style led some viewers to report them to the authorities even before the abuse allegations became known, NBC said.
