The accused was arrested in the federal capital at the end of June and has been in custody since then. The hitherto innocent, who outwardly led an inconspicuous life – continuously employed since his youth, married four times, father of two adult children – is characterized by a “multi-layered pedosexual activity”, namely “in one dimension, which corresponds to the concept of the mental and spiritual abnormality of a higher degree “. The psychiatric expert Peter Hofmann, appointed by the judiciary as an expert, presented this to the court as an expert opinion.
Comprehensive confession
The caretaker, in turn, made a comprehensive confession in front of an aldermen’s senate (chair: Eva Brandstetter). He described how he first met a like-minded person living in the Philippines who one day offered him sex contacts in his home country in a relevant chat: “He said he can help me find accommodation.” From then on, the Viennese flew once a year to the Philippines, whereby his acquaintance first introduced him to his sister. “I was with her for two years. From 2013 to 2015. We were a completely normal partnership,” said the defendant. She was an adult, he emphasized. His family in Vienna had no idea about the long-distance relationship.
“At some point he asked me if I was interested in young girls,” the defendant continued. In Vienna he subsequently took advantage of “live sex shows” with young girls in the Philippines via Skype, for which he transferred money via Western Union. While on vacation in the Far East, he had girls brought to his hotel room. In at least one case, he had a child perform sexual acts on him. But he broke it off “when I noticed that she was feeling uncomfortable,” the man stated.
Cross-border children’s sex ring
His contact person was arrested in 2018 and has now been sentenced to 15 years in prison in the Philippines. The public prosecutor in Vienna knew that the man had maintained a cross-border children’s sex ring for years.
The – not final – judgment against the caretaker did not only refer to the sexual abuse of minors. In addition, he had persuaded no fewer than 608 male adolescent chat partners to engage in sexual acts on themselves through video chats. Nine of those affected were underage, that is, not yet 14 years old. The caretaker saved the clips on various hard drives. Furthermore, he had called up 3,300 child pornographic websites on the Darknet and created a corresponding collection with the material.
