The 51-year-old’s mother was worried and called the police. Officials opened the apartment on Erdbergstrasse and found the woman and the girl lifeless, the police confirmed information from the APA. The emergency doctor could only determine that both people were dead. The perpetrator was initially unknown, the investigation is ongoing in the family environment.
Due to the injuries of the victims discovered early in the morning, it is assumed that the crime was a homicide, reported police spokesman Philipp Haßlinger. No details were given; the exact cause of death is still under investigation. The coroner’s office was also notified. When asked, no further information was available about the family situation. “The environmental surveys are currently underway,” emphasized Haßlinger. The Vienna State Criminal Police Office, body/life investigation area, was entrusted with the further investigation.
These are the second and third killings of women in Austria this year. On January 25th, a 78-year-old in Zell am Ziller in the Tyrolean Zillertal suffocated his 72-year-old wife, who was in great need of care, in their shared apartment and then committed suicide. The two dead people were found by the daughter, who lives in the same house.
