On the evening of February 13th, a guest who was already infected but only later became ill was at the Geinberg thermal baths in the Innviertel – the Ried district administration informed about this on Friday. Because of the high infectivity of the disease, bathers could have become infected. The BH therefore advises those people who do not have immunity through two measles-mumps-rubella vaccinations or who have had measles to monitor their health.

These are the signs of illness
If signs of illness such as high fever, dry cough, runny nose, conjunctivitis and inflammation in the nasopharynx occur by March 5th, you should call your family doctor immediately, it said.

The World Health Organization (WHO) sounded the alarm this week about the sharp increase in the number of measles infections: Last year, more than 306,000 measles cases were reported worldwide, as the WHO announced on Tuesday in Geneva. That is an increase of 79 percent compared to 2022. According to the Agency for Health and Food Safety (AGES), as of February 21, there have been 129 confirmed cases of measles in Austria since the beginning of the year. In 2023, 186 infections were registered.
